Lord of the Rings: DevOps Edition
Modern software delivery involves Lean principles, DevOps practices, and of course tools. Implementing those, in harmony, will necessitate a change in how teams operate, more specifically, it will require a change in how managers think about teams. If teams truly want to leverage the power of DevOps, or just a team just wants to be high performing, how should leaders think about team construction? Using comical analogous reasoning, Joseph discusses the fellowship in Lord of the Rings, the roles, the mission, and the skills team to extrapolate what can be learned. Joseph will take artistic license every now and then to make a point in order to make a point; because wizards and IT are not a common analogy. Finally, Joseph will discuss leadership lessons he learned by analyzing each team member, and each team member’s role with sage advice for all the wizards on your team. Attendees will leave with an understanding of what place roles have on high performing teams, and what commonalities exist across members of a team.
