Agile Teams—Not So Cross-Functional!

Add to calendar

In the purest type organizations that have Scrum teams or Agile teams that are fully cross-functional and can do everything within their team, it is easy for those teams to complete delivery of their quality work in their way. In other organizations, however, there are Scrum or Agile teams that need help from other teams or departments. When we talk about teams being cross-functional, we assume they are able to complete their commitments on their own. However, in a growing number of organizations, this is not the case – the Scrum or Agile teams require help from other teams like operations or UX/UI. Attendees will take a dive into some ways that the Scrum or Agile teams are able to leverage these ‘other’ teams so that there are as few impediments and slowdowns as possible. Explore ways that teams utilize others to help them move forward toward quality software.

Leslie Lowman

After starting her career as a college instructor, Leslie Lowman moved into software development and subsequently found her calling with agile and Scrum. From that point forward, even through more development, she utilized and shared the agile mindset. Eventually, through nothing short of fate, Leslie shifted her career to being a ScrumMaster, where she met a number of mentors that allowed her to grow her agile knowledge. She soon found herself doing coaching and training for multiple organizations and teams to help them transform to being agile. For the past nine years she has been helping others be more agile in many different ways and continuing to build agile leaders.
